YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team suffered a huge loss with the announcement that sophomore Brandon Bowdry's (Taylor, Mich.-Taylor Truman) will miss the 2007-08 season with a broken foot, with surgery expected later this week.
"This is an unfortunate situation for Brandon," EMU head coach Charles E. Ramsey said of the loss of the 6-foot-6, 229-pound Bowdry. "Sitting out the season will not only be tough on him but also on us. Brandon had a great freshman year and had really been working hard in the off season to get stronger and we were looking forward to him having an outstanding sophomore season. We will handle this unexpected setback as a team and everyone will have to step up to offset the loss of Brandon."
Bowdry was part of a strong 2006-07 EMU freshman class. He earned MAC All-Freshman Team honors after averaging 8.3 points and 5.4 rebounds. He started in 28 of 32 games as a true freshman and led the team in rebounding 16 times during the year.
