ND QB Demetrius Young Has Enrolled at NIU Independent sources and online reports have confirmed that former Notre Dame quarterback Demetrius Jones has left Notre Dame and enrolled at Northern Illinois. Jones was the starting quarterback for Notre Dame in the Irish's season opening loss against Georgia Tech.
Jones was pulled during the Georgia Tech contest after fumbling the ball twice and completing 1-3 passes for 4 yards and rushing for 28 yards. Jones has not played since being replaced by Jimmy Clausen in the first half of Notre Dame's opening game. Clausen is currently listed as the Irish's starting quarterback.
Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis confirmed on Friday that Jones did not make the trip with the Irish for their contest against Michigan stating "I have not spoken to Demetrius and can only say that he missed the team bus. Any additional comment would be without all the facts." Weis would not comment on reports of Jones' leaving the school and enrolling at Northern Illinois.
According to reports, Jones, who would be eligible to play for Northern Illilnois in 2008, intends to play for the Huskies next season.
