Former BSU Guard Jarelle Redden If you can play some hoops and have some college eligibility remaining, new Ball State head coach Billy Taylor may have a spot for you on his squad.
For the second time since taking over the beleaguered Cardinals' program in August, Taylor has dimissed a pair of players from last year's team.
In a statement released through Ball State's Department of Athletic Communications, Taylor announced that senior center Michah Rollins and senior guard Jarelle Redden have been dismissed from the team effective immediately due to unspecified "violation of team policy in separate instances."
"We are disappointed in the actions of Jarelle and Micah," Taylor said in a prepared statement. "It's unfortunate we had to come to this decision, but we wish them both well in their future endeavors. As a group, our team will move forward and we are excited to begin practice this weekend."
The dismissals of Rollin and Redden leave the Cardinals with only eight scholarship players as practice opens this weekend.
Just last month Taylor dismissed junior guard Jalon Perryman and JUCO transfer forward Keith Ford following run-ins with local law enforcement officials.
The Cardinals will be down one more player when practice officially opens as redshirt freshman forward Malik Perry recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery that could sideline him up to one month.
