Three Mid-American Conference gridiron performers have been named to the 2008 Maxwell Award watch list by the Maxwell Football Club which presents the award annually to the nation's outstanding collegiate football player.

Central Michigan junior quarterback Dan LeFevour was named to the watch list following a 2007 season that saw LeFevour lead the Chippewas to back-to-back MAC championships while accounting for over 4700 yards of offense and 46 touchdowns. LeFevour also became only the second player in NCAA FBS history to pass for more than 3,000 yards (3,652) and rush for over 1,000 yards (1,122) in a single season, joining former Texas standout quarterback Vince Young in the exclusive club. LeFevour owns the Central Michigan career records for passing yards, completions, attempts, touchdown passes and total offense and was named the 2007 MAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Another MAC junior signal-caller, Ball State's Nate Davis, was named to the Maxwell Watch List for 2008 following a prolific 2007 campaign. Last season Davis topped the MAC with 3,667 yards passing and thirty touchdowns in leading the Cardinals to their first bowl berth since 1996. Davis set school marks last season for passing attempts and touchdowns and in two seasons already owns Ball State career marks in both categories as well with over 5600 yards passing and 48 touchdowns.

Not all of the offensive talent in the MAC is under center however and the MAC's third Maxwell Award candidate was also one of the nation's top running backs in 2007. Kent State tailback Eugene Jarvis returns as the nation's leading rusher after finishing fifth in the NCAA last season with a school-record 1,669 yards rushing. Jarvis was a first-team All-MAC pick in 2007, racking up 13 touchdowns and 1,975 yards in all-purpose yards, the second highest total in Kent State history.

The current watch list of 75 candidates will be narrowed to three finalists on November 25 with the winner being announced at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards show in December.
