Kent State (16-11, 8-4 MAC) at Bowling Green (15-11, 8-4 MAC)
6:30 p.m. (FS Ohio) • Bowling Green leads series 78-63
• With the nation’s sixth longest winning streak intact, Kent State looks for its ninth straight win on Thursday night at Bowling Green. The Golden Flashes are seeking their fourth straight road win and to gain the upper hand in a four-way tie for second in the MAC East Division which also includes Akron and Miami... The eight game win streak is tied for the sixth longest streak in the country and is the longest win streak since KSU won 10 straight in the 2003-04 season... A win tonight would give KSU just the second undefeated month of February in school history (8-0; 2001-02)...Bowling Green is coming off a 71-66 overtime loss to Canisius on Saturday. In MAC play, the Falcons have won seven of the last eight... Senior Brian Moten has played well in the absence of Chris Knight, who was injured in the first minute of the Falcons’ win at Buffalo. Moten is averaging 18.0 points in the past two games and has made 8-of-15 three-pointers. In fact, he is 16-of-31 (52 percent) from long range over the past five contests.
Akron (17-10, 8-4 MAC) at Buffalo (17-8, 9-3 MAC)

• Akron travels to division-leader Buffalo on Thursday for a 7 p.m. EST contest at Alumni Arena. UA looks to avenge a 63-61 home loss to UB on Jan. 13...The Zips, who have won eight of their last 10 games, come off a 74-66 loss at Valparaiso on Saturday... Akron gave up an 18-point first half lead en route to a 74-66 loss at Valpo on Saturday. After shooting 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the field in the first period, the Zips finished the game at 48.8 percent (21-of-43) from the floor and allowed the Crusaders to score 23 points of their 18 turnovers. Nate Linhart led UA with 13 points on the strength of 6-of-8 field goal shooting...The Bulls look to end a three-game skid and to rebound from a 78-70 defeat at Vermont on Saturday... Buffalo has held seven of its last eight opponents to under 60 points at Alumni Arena... The Bulls are looking to complete the season sweep of Akron for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
Miami (15-10, 8-4 MAC) at Ohio (13-13, 6-6 MAC)

• Ohio will look to complete its first regular-season sweep of Miami in nine years on Thursday when the two rivals get together for the 183rd Battle of the Bricks. The Bobcats have won 24 of their last 26 games at the Convocation Center, including 12 of their last 14 home MAC outings... As of Feb. 19, senior forward Jerome Tillman is one of just two players in Division I men’s basketball who is currently leading his conference in both points and rebounds per game. The MAC leader with averages of 18.8 points and 8.3 boards per contest is joined by National Player of the Year candidate Blake Griffin of Oklahoma as the only players on top of their respective conferences in both categories...Miami senior forward Michael Bramos has surpassed the 20-point scoring plateau seven times this season and 21 times during his Miami career, most recently with a 24-point effort at Central Michigan (Feb. 10)... In his 19th season as a head coach, all with Mid-American Conference programs, Miami head coach Charlie Coles owns the third-most overall wins of any coach in MAC history and the second-most league wins all time. Coles boasts a 314-249 overall record and a 191-131 all-time MAC mark. He is just three MAC wins away from tying Bob Nichols’ league record for career conference wins of 194. |
