Buffalo will face Wichita State in the first round of the second-annual College Basketball Invitational tournament. The Bulls will travel to face the Shockers in Wichita with tip-off set for Wednesday night. It marks only the second time the Bulls will play in a postseason tournament as a Division I program.

The Bulls were the regular season co-champions of the Mid-American Conference and advanced to the championship game of the MAC Tournament before falling to Akron 65-53 Saturday night.

With a 21-11 record on the season, the Bulls have earned the second most wins in school history and their second 20-win season in the last five years.

Wichita State has a record of 16-16. The Bulls and Shockers met once before back in 1997. Wichita State won the game, 79-69.

The CBI is a 16-team, single-elimination tournament, until the Championship Series, with all games being held at campus sites of the higher seed. Eleven of the 17 games will be nationally televised on the HDNet.

The Championship Series will be a best-of-three series, home-away-home, in which the higher seed will get the first and last (if necessary) home games. The event will feature eight first-round games, four quarterfinal games, a semifinal round and then a Championship Series.

Opening Round: March 17-18
Quarterfinal Round: March 23
Semifinal Round: March 25
Championship Series: March 30, April 1, April 3 (if necessary)
