The Mid-American Conference has announced its Players of the Week for Week 3 of the 2010 football season.

East Division

Offensive Player of the Week:  Temple RB Bernard Pierce
Sophomore running back Bernard Pierce (Ardmore, Pa.) rushed for 169 yards and scored three touchdowns in last Saturday’s 30-16 win over Connecticut. Pierce’s first score was a 27-yard reception, his career longest reception and first touchdown reception.  The game also marked Pierce’s sixth multi-touchdown game in his 15-game career.  Pierce moved up to No. 8 on Temple’s career rushing list and now has 1,662 rushing yards.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Bowling Green LB Dwayne Woods
Sophomore linebacker Dwayne Woods (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished second on the team with eight tackles, including one tackle for loss, two pass break-ups and one interception in a 44-28 win over Marshall. His interception was returned for 78 yards to give Bowling Green an early 14-0 lead and was the fourth longest in school history.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Ohio P Paul Hershey
Junior kicker Paul Hershey (Fremont, Ohio) had a career day for the Bobcats, averaging 46.5 per punt on his six kicks. He boasted three 50+yard punts on the afternoon and dropped two inside the 20 yard line.

West Division

Offensive Player of the Week:  Central Michigan RB Paris Cotton
Junior running back Paris Cotton (Miami, Fla.) ran for a career-high 209 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-14 win at Eastern Michigan.  Cotton scored on runs of 13 yards, 1 yard and 61 yards.  Cotton averaged 10.0 yards per carry and had seven runs of at least 10 yards. Cotton's 200-yard rushing effort was the first for a Chippewa since 2004.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Toledo DB Desmond Marrow
Senior defensive back Desmond Marrow (Youngstown, Ohio) ranked second on the club with 10 tackles and added two interceptions and one pass defensed in a 37-24 win at Western Michigan.  Marrow returned one interception 15-yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to open a 31-7 lead.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Northern Illinois P Josh Wilber
Senior punter Josh Wilber (Phoenix, Ariz.) averaged 49.0 yards on five punts in 28-22 loss at Illinois.  Wilber had three punts of over 50 yards with punts of 51, 56 and 55 yards with all three of those kicks pinning the Illini inside their 12-yard line.  Illinois returned only one punt on the day and that was for minus one yard as three of his five punts resulted in fair catches and one was downed.
