The Mid-American Conference has announced its Week Nine football Players of the Week.

East Division
Offensive Player of the Week:  Miami WR Nick Harwell
Freshman wide receiver Nick Harwell (Missouri, Texas) earned the first multiple touchdown game of his career as he finished with eight receptions for 97 yards and the two scores in a 21-9 win at Buffalo.  His two touchdowns from quarterback Zac Dysert opened a 14-0 lead at the half for the RedHawks as Miami improved to 5-4 on the year and tied for first place in the MAC East with a 4-1 mark with Temple and Ohio.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Bowling Green DT Chris Jones
Sophomore defensive tackle Chris Jones (Brownsburg, Ind.) had six tackles, five tackles for loss, and totaled three and one-half  sacks and recovered a fumble in the Falcons 17-14 win at Central Michigan. Jones led a defensive effort that held Central Michigan to only 231 total yards, an offense that was coming into the game averaging 399.1 yards per game.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Kent State P Matt Rinehart
Junior punter Matt Rinehart (Dover, Ohio) turned in the best day of his career, averaging 52.0 yards on four punts as the Flashes posted a 43.0 yard net on the day in a 33-14 win over Ball State.  Ranked first in the MAC in average, Rinehart's effort included a 62-yard blast, his second-best punt of the season.

West Division
Offensive Player of the Week:  Western Michigan WR Jordan White
Senior wide receiver Jordan White (Cleveland, Ohio) had a career day with 14 receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown in a 28-21 loss to Northern Illinois.  His 180 yards are the eighth most in a game in Western Michigan history and his 14 catches are the fourth most in a game in program history. White has topped the 100 yards receiving mark on four occasions this season.  White has 938 yards receiving this season, ranking ninth at Western Michigan, and 1,846 career receiving yards, also ranking ninth in school annals. His 186 career catches ranks fourth at Western Michigan and his eight career 100-yard receiving games ranks fourth as well.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Northern Illinois DE Jake Coffman
Senior defensive end Jake Coffman (German Valley, Ill.) helped lead the Huskies’ defensive charge in a 28-21 win at Western Michigan with four tackles, one-and-a-half tackles for loss, and half a sack and capped his day by making the game-saving interception on Western Michigan’s final offensive play to seal the win.  Coffman’s interception came on the Northern Illinois 12-yard line with the Broncos driving for the game-tying score.  Coffman also combined with Mike Krause on a sack of Alex Carder in the third quarter and continues to lead the Huskies in that category, as well as in tackles for loss, this season.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Toledo P Vince Penza
Freshman punter Vince Penza (Canfield, Ohio) averaged 40.6 yards on five punts in the Rockets 42-7 win at Eastern Michigan.  Penza consistently made solid punts on special teams as only one of his five punts was returned for minus-three yards.
