BOWLING GREEN 70, MANHATTAN 57
Bowling Green, OH – The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team jumped out to a 40-26 halftime lead and never looked back, defeating Manhattan Wednesday evening 70-57 in Anderson Arena.

SOLID SHOOTING

Bowling Green won its second consecutive home game by shooting 51 percent from the floor and building a first-half lead. Manhattan never got closer than 10 in the second half as BGSU forced 24 Jasper turnovers and 15 steals.

Luke Kraus scored 10 points in the first half on his way to a team-high 15, just one shy of his own career best. Scott Thomas had eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Joe Jakubowski added 11 points and four assists. The point guard duo of Jakubowski and Jordon Crawford combined for eight assists without a turnover in the contest.

After Jakubowski hit the first of his three three-pointers early in the game, Manhattan scored five straight to tie the game at 9-9. But Bowling Green held the Jaspers scoreless over the next four minutes and made all four of its shots during that stretch for a 21-9 lead. Dee Brown and Kraus hit a pair of three’s midway through the first and A’uston Calhoun powered home a basket inside to make it 29-14 with 5:47 to go in the first half. Crawford’s one-handed runner as the first-half buzzer sounded gave the Falcons a 14-point lead.

Manhattan did score the first four points of the second half to close within 10 but the Jaspers went 0-for-2 with three turnovers on their next five possessions and BGSU weathered the storm. Leading 47-36, Bowling Green scored seven in a row, capped by a Kraus lay-up that gave the Falcons a comfortable 18-point lead and effectively put the game away.

SEASON HIGH IN TREYS
The Falcons had 14 turnovers for the game, 10 less than Manhattan, which negated the Jaspers 35-26 rebounding edge. Bowling Green also made a season-high eight three-pointers in 20 attempts (40 percent). Thomas and Calhoun had four steals each and Crawford added three for the Falcons. Nine of the 10 players who got on the court for Bowling Green scored at least three points.

Manhattan falls to 2-10 with the loss and Bowling Green improves to 3-9. The Falcons will have a week off before hosting Texas San Antonio Dec. 30 at 7 p.m.
