The Mid-American Conference Monday announced its Players of the Week.
MAC Men's Basketball East Division Player of the Week
Justin Greene, Kent State, Forward

Kent State maintained its half-game lead in the Mid-American Conference East Division by winning both games this week behind the effort of junior forward Justin Greene. Greene averaged 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds on the week while shooting 52 percent from the field and 81 percent from the foul line. On Wednesday in an 80-70 win over Eastern Michigan he racked up 19 of his 23 points in the first half as Kent State improved to 7-0 this year when he goes for 20+ points. On Saturday in an 84-77 win at Northern Illinois, Greene totaled 13 of his 18 points in the second half, including six in a key three minute stretch that helped put the game away. He also added eight rebounds in the contest and now has six consecutive outings with eight or more rebounds. Averaging 16.1 points (5th), 7.7 rebounds (3rd) and 1.4 blocks (5th), he is the only player in the MAC ranked top five in all three categories.
MAC Men's Basketball West Division Player of the Week
Flenard Whitfield, Western Michigan, Forward

Whitfield averaged 25.0 points per game over the past two games, setting career highs in points in each game. He first established a new high with 23 points at Akron, knocking down a career high 10 field goals on 16 attempts (.625) to go along with five rebounds. Whitfield reestablished his career high in scoring with 27 points on 11-of-22 shooting (.500), against Ohio. The junior finished 21-for-38 (.553) for the week. He added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season and fifth of his career. The 27-point effort was his fourth career 20-point game and the first time he did it in back-to-back games. Whitfield scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half of a WMU two-point win that put the Broncos a half game ahead of Ball State for first in the MAC West Division. Whitfield was also 8-for-10 (.800) from the free throw line this week, including a perfect 5-for-5 performance against the Bobcats.
