The Mid-American Conference Monday announced its Players of the Week. Nick Winbush of Miami earned East Division Player of the Week honors, while Demetrius Ward of Western Michigan was named West Division Player of the Week.

Winbush put together back-to-back double-doubles for the second time this season and averaged an impressive 18.5 ppg and 11.0 rpg as Miami moved a half a game into first place in the East Division ... Winbush tied a career high with 26 points in an 86-80 overtime win against Kent State to take over first place in the East Division ... he shot 64.3 percent from the field (9-of-14) and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line while tying a season high with 12 boards he also had three blocked shots against the Golden Flashes ... Winbush scored 16 points in the first half to keep Miami within striking distance and helped the RedHawks erase a 13-point deficit in the second half ... after hitting a 3-pointer early in overtime, a 3-point play by Winbush put the RedHawks up for good ... at James Madison, Winbush scored 11 points and had a game-high 10 boards in a one-point game with the Bulldogs ... he also notched two blocked shots ... for the week, he shot 51.9 percent from the field and had five blocked shots ... he never came off the floor for the RedHawks in either game.
MAC West Division Player of the Week

Ward has scored in double figures in each of the last 10 games with 15 points against NIU and 14 against Illinois State this week. Twelve of Ward's points at NIU game during a four-minute stretch that took a tied game to a 12-point lead for WMU at halftime. Ward scored a pair of jumpers, two three-pointers and a lay up as time expired in the first half against the Huskies, a road win for the Broncos. Ward came back with 14 points in WMU's Bracket Buster game against ILSU. The junior went 4-for-7 from the field with five rebounds and four assists in WMU's seventh win in a game decided by three points or less this season.
