YPSILANTI, MI. (EMUEagles.com)¬ — The Eastern Michigan University football team put the finishing touches on the 2011 spring drills with the Annual Green-White Intrasquad Game Sunday in Rynearson Stadium.
It was a perfect day for football, with the temperature in the mid-70s under clear blue skies, and the players put on a hard-hitting exhibition with the offense, in green jerseys, taking on the defense, in white jerseys.
When the final whistle sounded, the White Team recorded a 14-7 win in the scoring system that awarded both teams points.
The Green (offense) scored on its second possession of the game when quarterback Tyler Benz found wide receiver Nick Olds for a nine-yard touchdown pass. The scoring drive was set up by a double pass from Benz to Olds who then found Matthew Brown for a 43-yard gain.
The White (defense) forced a fumble in the second quarter which was recovered by Herb Waits at the visitors 21-yard line. The Green then scored on a four-yard run by Javonti Greene and closed out the first half on a two-yard touchdown run by Dominique Sherrer with just three seconds left on the clock.
The second half belonged to the defense as there was no further scoring.
