Image The Mid-American Conference Monday announced its Week No. 5 Players of the Week.

East Division

Offensive Player of the Week:  Ohio QB Tyler Tettleton
Sophomore quarterback Tyler Tettleton (Norman, Okla.) threw for over 250 yards for the third-consecutive week as he finished with 276 yards passing 28-of-42 through the air. Tettleton also tossed a pair of touchdowns to lead the Bobcats to a 17-10 victory over Kent State. Through four games this season, Tettleton has thrown for 1,200 yards, 12 touchdowns and has only one interception to help Ohio get off to its best start since 1997.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Kent State LB C.J. Malauulu
Junior linebacker C.J. Malauulu (Oceanside, Calif.) had a game- and career-high 12 tackles at Ohio as the Flashes held the Bobcats to a season-low 17 points in a 17-10 loss. He also added 3.0 tackles for loss, a sack and a pass break-up. Malauulu also forced a fumble in the second quarter on Ohio's 25 that led to Kent State's only touchdown of the day.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Bowling Green KR Boo Boo Gates
Sophomore kick returner Boo Boo Gates (Middletown, Ohio) finished with seven returns for 233 yards, including a career-best 77 yard return in the first quarter to help setup the Falcons first touchdown in a 55-10 setback at West Virginia. His seven returns are the second-most in school history, while the yards are the most ever in a game. The previous-high was 181 yards by Joe Alls in 2001 versus Toledo.

West Division

Offensive Player of the Week:  Western Michigan QB Alex Carder
Junior quarterback Alex Carder (Shawnee, Kan.) threw for a career high and school record 479 yards and five touchdowns, including three in the fourth quarter, in Western Michigan's 38-31 upset of defending Big East champion Connecticut this past Saturday.  His 37-for-51 effort (72.5 percent) came with no interceptions on the road against a BCS opponent.  Carder hit three different receivers for his five scores, with two scores going to Jordan White and Chleb Ravenell, while another went to tight end Dallas Walker.  Carder’s passing yards ranks as the ninth most in Mid-American Conference history, and his five touchdowns tied for second most in a game in school history and tied for 12th in MAC history.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Toledo LB Robert Bell
Junior linebacker Robert Bell (Grand Rapids, Mich.) had a career-high 12 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and one recovered fumble in the Rockets 36-13 road win at Temple.  Bell led the defensive effort that limited the potent Temple running game and Bernard Pierce to only 75 yards on 24 carries and no rushing touchdowns.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Central Michigan K David Harman
Junior kicker David Harman (Traverse City, Mich.) was perfect on 6-6 PATs, 2-2 field goals, for 12 total points in Central Michigan’s 48-41 win over Northern Illinois. His field goals covered 29 yards in the first quarter and 30 yards in the fourth quarter.
