Image KALAMAZOO, MI. –  While things didn’t go right at the end of the first half for Bowling Green and the Falcons trailed 28-14 at Western Michigan Saturday, there were still 30 minutes of football to be played.

However, the Falcons had a horrible third quarter offensively and Western went on to post a 45-21 victory.

BG ran only nine plays in the third quarter for a total of 28 yards and only 2:47 in time of possession. Meanwhile, WMU scored 10 points to basically put the game away.

“The mark of a good offense is every time you take the field, you’re making two or three first downs and you’re at least changing field position,” BG head coach Dave Clawson said. “Our margin for error this year is not very big.

“Offensively when we have to take a little pressure off the defense by moving the sticks, getting first downs and giving them a long field, I don’t think we did a good job of that,” Clawson added.

TDS: Bowling Green did score three times in the game — on a 57-yard pass from Matt Schilz to Kamar Jorden that was set up by a good run fake to Anthon Samuel; a 12-play, 73-yard drive, capped by a 5-yard run from Samuel; and a fourth-quarter TD, with Trent Hurley at quarterback, which used 11 plays for 81 yards with Jamel Martin scoring on a 4-yard run.

100: Jorden finished with 103 yards receiving on four receptions.
It’s Jorden’s second 100-yard game of the season and it’s the eighth time either a Falcon running back or receiver has gone over 100 yards this season.
The TD catch was Jorden’s fifth of the season, passing his total of four TDs in 2010.

BACK: BG’s Eugene Cooper and Jovan Leacock returned to the lineup after missing the game against West Virginia on Oct. 1 as their paperwork with the NCAA was being reviewed.
Cooper led the Falcons with nine receptions for 72 yards. Leacock, playing mostly on special teams, finished with two assisted tackles.

FIRST: BG true freshman cornerback Darrell Hunter made his first career interception and the Falcons scored their second TD of the game on the ensuing drive.

PUNTS: BG’s Brian Schmiedebusch punted five times for a 43.2-yard average, with one punt being downed inside the 20. Western returned only one punt for six yards.

TACKLES: BG’s secondary was busy with WMU’s ability to run the ball and also the Broncos’ good passing attack.
Rover Jerry ‘BooBoo’ Gates led the team with 11 tackles, safety Ryland Ward finished with 10 tackles and cornerback DeVon McKoy added eight
