Pierce added to his career records and now has 312 career points, 51 career rushing touchdowns, and 52 total career touchdowns. He extended his school records and now has 25 touchdowns and 150 points this season. In 11 games, Pierce is the Owls’ rushing leader with 1,381 yards and 26 TDs on 248 carries. In this week’s national statistics, he is No. 2 in scoring (13.64 ppg), No. 2 in rushing TDs (25), and No. 7 in rushing (125.55).

Defensive Player of the Week:  Ohio LB Keith Moore
Sophomore linebacker Keith Moore (Grove City, Ohio) had a breakout game for the Bobcats this past Tuesday against Miami as he tallied a career-best 10 tackles (5 solo) and 1.5 sacks to help Ohio to a 21-14 victory over the Redhawks. He also anchored a defensive unit that limited Miami to just 61 yards rushing.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Temple KR Matt Brown
Junior kick returner Matt Brown (Baltimore, Md.) tied the school record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter in a 34-16 win over Kent State.  It was the first kickoff return touchdown of his career. He tied James Nixon who had a 100-yard KOR for a touchdown in 2009. Brown finished the game with two punt returns for 24 yards and rushed 11 times for 32 yards.

In 11 games, Brown is the top Owls in kickoff returns (26.7) and punt returns (10.1).  He is second in rushing with 867 yards and five touchdowns on 142 carries. In this week’s national statistics, Brown is No. 20 in kickoff returns (25.73), No. 20 in all-purpose running (145.92), and No. 22 in punt returns (10.11).

West Division

Offensive Player of the Week:  Toledo WR Eric Page
Junior wide receiver Eric Page (Toledo, Ohio) caught a career-high 16 passes for 145 yards and one touchdown to lead Toledo over Ball State, 45-28. Page set the Toledo school record for receptions in a season with 112, breaking Lance Moore's record of 103 set in 2003. Page also tied Moore's career mark of 25 touchdown catches.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Northern Illinois DE Sean Progar
Junior defensive end Sean Progar (Glenview, Ill.) finished with four tackles, three solo, two tackles for loss, one safety and one sack in an 18-12 win over Eastern Michigan.  Progar made two of the biggest plays defensively for the Huskies.  In the second quarter, Progar tackled Eagles’ back Dominique Sherrer in the end zone for the Huskies’ first safety of the season and a 9-3 lead. On Eastern Michigan’s last drive, and needing a stop to preserve an 18-12 lead, Progar sacked Eagles quarterback Alex Gillett for a 10-yard loss to force Eastern Michigan into a fourth-and-35 desperation last play.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Western Michigan K John Potter
Senior kicker John Potter (Grand Haven, Mich.) had a career-matching nine made PATs against Akron and a career-high 12 kick offs and a career-high six touch backs.  He now has 99 points this season, the most by a kicker in program history and tied for the fifth most by any player in program history. His consecutive PATs made streak now stands at 126 and his 15 field goals in 2011 are tied for fifth in a season in program history.  His 54 PATs this season are a new program record and rank 10th in MAC history.  His 325 points are tied for the fourth most in MAC history as well.
