Image Last week in the Mid-American Conference… While most people were still digesting their Thanksgiving dinner and leftovers, MAC fans had another heavy helping of offense, smothered with outstanding performances.
Many MAC teams are done for the season, but some have earned desert in the form of bowl appearances, and two outstanding squads will square off Friday for the “piece de resistance” – a MAC championship.

That title will be determined with play in the 15th Marathon MAC Championship game at Ford Field in Detroit. It is the seventh consecutive year in which Ford Field served as the hosting facility.

Battling for top honors are MAC West champ Northern Illinois and MAC East champ Ohio. The Huskies lost a heartbreaker to 2010 champ Miami last year. OU is returning to the title game for the third time in six years

Last week, NIU won the West with a victory over Eastern Michigan, Ohio won its fifth straight defeating Miami in the “Battle of the Bricks.” Temple won its third straight, ending Kent State’s four game winning
streak. Western Michigan, using a sub quarterback,  scored 68 points in routing Akron, where there will be a new head coach in 2012. Toledo finished strong with its third straight victory
