Buckley's 10 helps UT post No. 5 |

 TOLEDO 75, UNC-WILMINGTON 73 TOLEDO, OH – Junior G Dominique Buckley scored 10 straight points in the second half to lead a spirited Rocket rally and lift Toledo (5-1) to a 75-73 non-conference triumph over UNC-Wilmington on Wednesday evening in Savage Arena.
The victory was UT’s fifth straight and matched its longest win streak since winning five in a row in the 2006-07 campaign.
Buckley poured in a career-high 21 points and dished out a career-best seven assists to spearhead a balanced UT scoring attack that saw four players score in double figures. Joining him in double digits were sophomore G Rian Pearson (18 pts., team-high nine boards), freshman G Julius Brown (17 pts., seven assists) and sophomore F Matt Smith (12 pts.). Brown and Buckley also led the Rockets with a team-high three steals.
Freshman G Adam Smith topped the Seahawks (0-5) with a game-high 27 points.
A Romulus, MI native who sat out last season after transferring from Iowa State, Buckley began the Rockets’ comeback by converting a three-point play to even the score at 60-60 with 6:18 to play. After the Seahawks answered back with a four-point run, Buckley gave UT the lead for good with another three-point play and four free throws for a 67-64 advantage with just under four minutes remaining.
The Rockets extended their lead to 75-68 with 1:47 to play before UNCW made a late rally that fell just short.
Buckley’s play in the second stanza helped the Rockets shoot 52.0 percent after halftime and finish with a 48.2 percent shooting mark for the game. UT also picked up its work on the boards in the second half, holding a 20-12 advantage en route to a 37-32 edge in the game.
Toledo will now visit Great West Conference member Chicago State on Saturday, Dec. 3 before returning home to face Atlantic 10 power Temple on Wednesday, Dec. 7.
