COLGATE 74, EASTERN MICHIGAN 70
HAMILTON, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) –Eastern Michigan fell in a road contest at Colgate University Thursday evening, 74-70. Despite outscoring the Raiders (3-4) 22-15 in the final 6:37 of play and causing 19 Raider turnovers, the Eagles (4-4) were unable to mount the necessary at Cotterell Arena.

Darrell Lampley ignited EMU's offense with a 37-point performance, while going 12-of-26 from the floor and 11-for-11 from the charity stripe. Lampley's offensive outburst was good for a career-high, while he saw all 40 minutes in the loss. His 37 points were also the most by an Eagle since Carlos Medlock scored 41 against Akron in 2010.

Anthony Strickland led the Eagles in rebounding with eight while netting 11 points, both career-highs for the redshirt-sophomore.  J.R. Sims added eight points for Eastern. The Eagles shot .381 from the field, but struggled from beyond the arc, going just 4-of-24.

Colgate had three players in double-figures, with Mike Venezia leading the group as he notched 19 points. Pat Moore had 14, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor, while John Brandenburg picked up 11. Colgate out-rebounded EMU 34-29, and the Raiders' hot-shooting proved to be the difference in the game. Colgate shot 55 percent at 22-for-40 from the floor, while hitting 6-for-14 from three-point land, good for 42.9 percent.

Eastern opened up by hitting the first two buckets of the game as Lampley hit a pair of jumpers, including a three-ball to give EMU a 5-0 lead. The five-point difference ignited an 11-0 run for Colgate, giving them an 11-5 lead. They maintained a lead throughout the rest of the half and led 29-27 at the break.
Eastern shot 32.3 percent from the floor, while the Raiders were at 54.5 percent. Lampley was the only Eagle in double-digits with 11 points, while Colgate's Moore had all 14 of his points in the first 20 minutes of play.

EMU was unable to regain the lead throughout the rest of the game, despite tying Colgate three times in the first four minutes of the second half.
Colgate took advantage of their free throws in the second half, going 22-of-27 from the stripe, carrying them to their four-point victory. Lampley netted 26 points in the half, while Strickland added eight points and five rebounds. EMU went 14-of-15 from the line in the second half, but shot 7.1 percent from beyond the arc as they dropped the 74-70 decision.

The Eagles have a week off before hitting the road to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the Drake Bulldogs. Tip-off is set for 8:05 p.m. (CST) at the Knapp Center.
