Temple will face Wyoming in teh New Mexico Bowl Dec. 17. Both teams finished 8-4 overall.
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple Owls are bowl-bound!
Temple (8-4 overall, 5-3 MAC) has accepted an invitation to play in the 2011 Gildan New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque, N.M, on Saturday, Dec. 17.  The Owls will face Wyoming (8-4, 5-2 MWC) in the first bowl game of the FBS postseason.

“This is a great matchup to kick-off the bowl season and will be a treat for fans in New Mexico and throughout the nation,” said Jeff Siembieda, Gildan New Mexico Bowl Executive Director. “To be able to put together a pair of 8-4 teams who have this much talent and are both playing well should make for a fantastic game.”

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Steve Addazio, Temple will be making its second bowl appearance in three years and fourth bowl trip overall. The Owls also played in the inaugural Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 1935 (vs. Tulane); the 1979 Garden State Bowl (vs. California); and the 2009 EagleBank Bowl (vs. UCLA).

“It is very exciting for us to bring Temple to the state of New Mexico,” said Siembieda.  “This is a very exciting football team with tremendous talent.  I know football fans in this region, and everywhere else are going to really like Temple football.”

Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. MT (2:30 p.m. ET) at University Stadium.  ESPN will televise the game live in HD.

Tickets will go on sale Monday at Noon. All of Temple’s bowl information will be available at www.OwlBowl.com.
