TEMPLE 77, TOLEDO 58
TOLEDO, OH – Toledo (6-2) saw its six-game win streak snapped on Wednesday evening with a 77-58 loss to Atlantic 10 power Temple (5-2) in Savage Arena. The contest was the first of a four-game homestand that will see the Rockets also host Loyola (IL), Youngstown State and Norfolk State.

UT was limited to a season-low 39.7 field-goal percentage in the contest, while the Owls’ 52.8 shooting mark was the highest by a Rocket opponent this season. Temple also held a 36-29 advantage on the boards and knocked down 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) three-point field-goal attempts.

Sophomore G Rian Pearson paced Toledo with 16 points and eight boards with freshman G Julius Brown junior G Dominique Buckley also in double figures with 12 points each.

Sophomore G Aaron Brown came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points for Temple, including a 5-for-8 effort from behind the three-point arc. Senior G Juan Fernandez and junior F Khalif Wyatt contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively.

The visitors took control early with a 16-4 spurt to take a 30-12 lead with just under nine minutes to play in the first half.  UT countered though with 12 straight points (10 by Pearson) to bring the Rockets within 30-24 with 4:40 before the intermission.  Brown’s trey ended the Owl drought though and Temple took a 36-27 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Toledo crept to within 36-31 on a Buckley three-pointer early in the second stanza, but that was as close as it would come. An 11-0 Temple burst put the game away and gave the Owls a 73-50 cushion with 3:52 to play.

The Rockets return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10 with a matchup against Horizon League foe Loyola (IL). Tip-off time is set for 3:00 p.m. and will follow the UT women’s matchup vs. Cleveland State scheduled for a noon start.
