OHIO 88, MARIETTA COLLEGE 54
ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio ran its record to 8-1 with an 88-54 victory over Marietta College on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center. Five players finished in double-figures for the Bobcats (8-1) who are off to their best start since the 1954-55 season.

D.J. Cooper led all scorers with 15 points and a game-high seven assists. Reggie Keely scored 13 points, all in the first half, and grabbed seven rebounds for the Bobcats. Nick Kellogg connected on 4-of-5 three-point attempts to finish with 12 points, one shy of his season-high.

Walter Offutt added 11 points for the ‘Cats while Stevie Taylor also chipped in with 11 had career-highs with five rebounds and four assists. TyQuane Goard matched two career-bests with six points and five boards, while Kenny Belton scored his first four points as a Bobcat and Ethan Jacobs scored for the first time this season. Jon Smith recorded nine rebounds for the second game in a row, leading Ohio in that category.

Ohio coasted to its fifth-straight win as it blitzed the local Division III power with a 28-3 run to start the contest. The Bobcats never trailed, shooting 53 percent from the field (35-of-66), and connecting on a season-high tying 12 three-pointers

Marietta, who does not have a player taller than 6-8, struggled to contain the Bobcats inside as Ohio outscored the Pioneers 38-18 in the paint and maintained a 49-35 rebounding advantage in the first meeting between the teams since 1985.

Marietta All-American forward Trevor Halter, who has returned to action after back surgery, was 4-of-4 from the free throw line, but 0-for-7 from the field. Jason Humphrey scored 11 to lead the Pioneers and Kevin Knab had 10. The Pioneers (6-2) only shot 26.5 percent (18 of 68) for the game, 17.2 percent from three-point land.

Ohio has now won 11 home contests in a row, the 20th-longest active streak in Division I.
Ohio is away for their next two games, playing at Wright State this Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and Northern Iowa next Tuesday before coming home on December 23 to play North Carolina A&T.
