Miami head coach Charlie Coles
BOWLING GREEN, OH - Charlie Coles reached a career milestone in Miamis 67-60 victory over Bowling Green Tuesday at Anderson Arena.
Coles, in his 19th season as a college head coach and 13th year at Miami, recorded his 217th career victory as the RedHawks head coach, becoming the all-time leader in wins at Miami.
The 66-year old Coles, who was a standout player at Miami, has survived numerous heart problems to become one of the coaching legends in the Mid-American Conference.
If you live long enough, good things will happen, Coles, who is 309-245 as a college head coach. Im like the running back who gained 100 yards. Thats the good news. The bad news is that it took me 100 carries.
I think the good thing about it is that the Good Lord has allowed me to coach on several occasions Coles continued. I know that any kind of record takes more people than you and usually you are the least of the people that accounted for that. I accept that all the way.
Its always a team thing.
