ImageAt the start of the season, who would have thought the MAC would look like this after eight weeks?

Let's get to the rankings. Here is how the MAC stands after eight weeks.
1 Ball State (7-0, 3-0 MAC) Last week: 1.
Ball State had the week off, but keeps the top spot based off its stellar season so far.
2 Central Michigan (5-2, 4-0 MAC) Last week: 3.
What a huge win for the Chippewas against Western Michigan. Quaterback Brian Brunner performed great under pressure in relief of Dan LeFevour.
3 Western Michigan (6-2, 4-1 MAC) Last week: 2.
The loss to Central Michigan is nothing to be embarrassed about. Tim Hiller (471 passing yards) had another spectacular day at quarterback.
4 Northern Illinois (4-3, 3-1 MAC) Last week: 4.
The Huskies dominated Toledo in every facet of the game on Saturday. NIU has given up 36 points in the last five games.
5 Akron (4-4, 2-2 MAC) Last week: 8.
I feel like I have to pick somebody from the East to go in this spot, and it might as well be Akron.
6 Buffalo (3-4, 1-2 MAC) Last week: 5.
I wrote last week that I still feel that Buffalo is the best team in the East. After an overtime win at home against Army, I'm not so sure about that.
7 Miami (2-5, 1-2 MAC) Last week: 12.
Honestly, who else would you put in this spot? Miami beat Bowling Green, on the road. And nobody in the division wants to play consistently well. So this, week, Miami gets the high ranking.
8 Toledo (2-5, 1-2 MAC) Last week: 6.
"Bad Toledo" showed up against Northern Illinois, and it was a poor performance all around.
9 Bowling Green (3-4, 1-2 MAC) Last week: 7.
The Falcons took another home loss but get to go on the road this week, where they are 3-1.
10 Temple (2-5, 1-3 MAC) Last week: 9.
Temple had Saturday off and plays Ohio on Tuesday.
11 Ohio (2-5, 1-2 MAC) Last week: 10.
Ohio also had Saturday off before taking on Temple on Tuesday.
12 Eastern Michigan (2-6, 1-3 MAC) Last week: 11.
A close loss at home to Akron drops the Eagles a spot.
13 Kent State (1-6, 0-3 MAC) Last week: 13.
Kent State had the week off and plays at Miami this week.
