PHILADELPHIA The 2010 Temple University football schedule, featuring six home games as part of the Owls fourth season of Mid-American Conference play and two nationally televised contests, was announced Monday.
The Owls, under fifth-year head coach Al Golden, will open the season with cross-city rival and defending FCS national champion Villanova in the second annual Mayors Cup at Lincoln Financial Field (date TBA).
Temple continues its three-game homestand with defending MAC champion Central Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 11 in the conference opener for both teams. The home action continues with Connecticut on Saturday, Sept. 18.
TU then hits the road for three consecutive games. In its first stop, Temple visits perennial powerhouse and intra-state rival Penn State on Sept. 25. The Owls then travel to Army (Oct. 2) and Northern Illinois (Oct. 9).
Temple returns home to Lincoln Financial Field to host Bowling Green on Oct. 16. TU travels to Buffalo (Oct. 23) before hosting Akron (Oct. 30).
Temple then takes to the road again, visiting Kent State (Nov. 6).
The Owls close out the regular season with a pair of Tuesday night clashes, both set for a national television audience on ESPN2. First, Temple hosts Ohio (Nov. 16) on Senior Night at 8 p.m. before travelling to Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 23 for a 7 p.m. clash.
