Coaches vs. Cancer Classic (Los Angeles, Calif.)
Television: ESPNU
Series: First Meeting

Miami is coming off a dramatic 70-66 win over Weber State Wednesday night, while UCLA defeated Prarie View A&M, 82-58.

Miami’s Kenny Hayes led the RedHawks in its first win of the season with 24 points.

Hayes tied a single-game 3-point field-goal percentage record at Miami. (Craig Michaelis went 6-for-6 against Nebraska on Nov. 27, 1989.) Hayes’ seventh trey of the game may have been the most critical as he nailed the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds remaining in the game. His seven treys against the Wildcats also ties for fifth on Miami’s single-game list.

With the win, Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles picked up his 300th career victory. His overall career record is now 300-239.

The Bruins return seven letterwinners, including two starters, from a squad that posted a 35-4 overall record and won the PAC-10 regular-season and tournament titles. Last season, the Bruins advanced to the NCAA Tournament Final Four.

Darren Collison led UCLA with 19 points in the win over Prairie View A&M last night.

The winner of tonight’s game advances to New York City on November 20-21 for the championship rounds of the tournament.
