BUFFALO 72, CENTRAL MICHIGAN 43
BUFFALO, NY Byron Mulkey scored a career-high 29 points to lead the University at Buffalo mens basketball team to a 72-43 win over Central Michigan at Alumni Arena Tuesday night.

Buffalo (15-7, 7-3 MAC) played one of its finest defensive games of the season, holding the Chippewas to 43 points on just 27 percent shooting (15-for-55). The Bulls had nine blocked shots, led by six from Mitchell Watt.  The Bulls also were able to turn 12 Central Michigan turnovers into 18 points.

Buffalo jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never trailed. Leading 14-6, UB mounted a 12-4 scoring run to take a 26-10 lead with 9:03 left in the first half. The lead would remain in double-figures the rest of the way.

Leading 46-27 with 14:08 remaining, the Bulls held the Chippewas to just one field goal over the next 10 minutes and led 64-34 with 4:13 left.

Mulkeys 29 points came on 9-of-13 shooting from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Zach Filzen added 15 points and Tony Watson II came off the bench to score eight points, including a pair of three-pointers.

The Bulls outrebounded the CMU, 39-34. Watt had a game-high nine rebounds and Javon McCrea added eight.

We did a really good job bouncing back from our last outing, head coach Reggie Witherspoon said. As a team, I thought we were very determined about making it extremely difficult for our opponent - making sure they dont get good looks - and I thought tonight we did a better job.

The Bulls will conclude play against the MACs West Division at Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon and Central Michigan will host Bowling Green.
